An argument for the existence of God.

“See this watch? It’s a Rolex, an exquisite piece of technology. Endless complication, hidden behind a veneer of elegance. Dozens of cogs and springs working in harmony, with a polished silver finish that makes checking the time an aesthetic experience.”

“Oh, okay. So you’re telling me that the watch couldn’t have just spontaneously appeared because it’s too intricate and detailed — it had to be designed. And you’re telling me that the world is even more complicated, so some must have designed it, too, and that’s why God exists.”

“What? No. I’m telling you that God told me to steal this watch. That’s why he exists.”

“Wait, is that my Rolex? Where did you get my Rolex?”

“Your thing was dumb, by the way. Nobody designed the Earth, idiot. Ever heard of something called the Big Bang?”

“My father gave me that watch.”

“I really feel like we need to move past the watch.”
