Avery Edison is a barely-twenty-something comedy writer. When not deeply engaged in her work — or the collection of gold coins in the dinosaur world — she maintains a few web-comics and submits things to McSweeney’s. They get rejected. Avery feels very sad for the e-mail system at McSweeney’s HQ, which she assures herself is broken.
Avery is probably best known for her twitter updates, which have been referred to by some parties as a kind of artistic endeavor. Said parties are clearly crazy, since nothing that fun could count as any kind of “work”.
Avery tried NaNoWriMo and quit early on due to “creative differences” between herself. She will, consequently, be writing her “novel with pretensions” called “I Don’t Know What’s Worse” for a very long time, probably. It’s getting rave reviews, if “rave reviews” means “some people like it, a bit.”
Avery also purportedly maintains a number of tumblogs, although her commitment to them can be nullified by a new episode of The Daily Show, or an old episode of Space Ghost. Nevertheless, feel free to check out The Small Picture and Commonplace (which she runs with Nostrich), Proud Nature and Answering Yahoos, or Slate in Brief (which she writes with Nick Douglas).
People quite like Jesus and Judas, which Avery writes with the guidance of the Lord. Installments of J+J previously appeared on this website, but have now been collected on their own tumblr. No one knows why.
You can find Avery on Flickr, Last.fm, Facebook, and good old e-mail. Don’t feel obliged to, but don’t be discouraged, either. And don’t scratch — you’re making it worse.
